Looking forward to warmer weather and berry season courtesy of the K Shave Worx Berry Blast #soap and #aftershave combo!

I'm a sucker for all things berry and when #kshaveworx came out with this one, it had my name all over it. I've actually done an in-depth review of Berry Blast previously, so I won't really get into it much today. Check out that review for more information. Berry Blast officially has notes of boysenberries, elderberries, strawberries, guava and pomegranate. It smells just like you might expect; sweet but not cloying and yes - very berry. Performance wise, the soap produced ample, creamy lather with excellent cushion, good glide and decent secondary lubricity. The aftershave is also a treat, leaving my skin feeling wonderfully soft and smooth. It contains alum, but it's a very light amount - and lacks a bit in the healing aspect, but it's got a great face feel.

Hardware for today included the black #StandardRazors with a #Gillette 7 O'clock (black) blade on shave five. The highlight, however - is the brush making its debut today; a custom "raspberry creamsicle" (companion to the orange creamsicle" brush) by none other than Milton of #TurnNShave. It sports a 24mm Motherlode knot which is quite a treat. As mentioned in Understanding Synthetic Knots it has a rather soft backbone (countered by setting the loft lower as it is here) but more than makes up for it with incredible density and softness! This is perhaps the slowest drying synthetic knot since the fibers at the tip are so fine and dense that they kind of clump together a bit. The white tips and reddish-brown base made it a no-brainer for the resin handle. The #GTP scuttle did its thing... But you knew that already, didn't you?

A lovely, lovely shave with some great hardware and software. While I wouldn't leave the house smelling like berries necessarily (I layered #Guerlain Habit Rouge for the day) it does mellow down fairly quickly and smells much less "berry like." Nevertheless, during - until a bit after the shave, I was in berry heaven. It's not for everyone, granted... If you're a fan of berries this stuff is golden.
