Unleash... The Kraken! By Mickey Lee Soapworks of course, and in the form of #soap and #aftershave for this SOTD. Aquatic, fresh and clean - different!

We took classic barbershop a step further and incorporated an undercurrent reminiscent of fresh ocean air; hints of salt air, sea kelp and agave. We also added aloe into the base along with the Mickey Lee standard shea butter and lanolin for an even more luxurious post shave feel.

I done extensive reviews of countless #mickeyleesoaps (click the hashtag to browse them all) - so check them out for more information as far as performance goes. I won't even talk about the scent, as I did an review of The Kraken some time ago... Granted, not to the depth I do today (with the chart above, etc.) so today I'm adding that above. I only have two SOTD on record for this software combo, which I find hard to believe... Though I don't always write up every shave.

The hardware for today was chosen to go with the "nautical" theme of The Kraken - or was it vice versa? The razor is the #TimelessRazor #TRBR78 with a fresh #Astra blade, for some serious stubble whacking power... Which it did, easily. I had some four days of stubble and it took it down to nothing - a BBS shave - no problem at all! Notice the heavy (forced) verdigris on the razor as compared to the freshly polished stand. The brush is a custom #LeoFrilot which you can find detailed in the debut of the RMS Titanic brush post. Shave two with it, and I'm starting to wonder about the all-white Ghost knot. It's not terribly dense, yet has a good (if "artificial") backbone - through heavier, more crimped fibers. I may switch to the reverse Motherlode knot sooner rather than later... We'll see. The #GTP scuttle rounded things out.

Today's shave is probably the closest I've had in a good while. I've been experimenting with various razors, brushes, especially software... But I haven't used the TRBR78 let alone with a fresh blade in some time. The software of course, performed as all Mickey Lee Soapworks does - dependable - with a great, fresh scent.
